Update on Kerry “Campaign”

March 9, 2005

A few posts ago, I noted that John Kerry was either running for presidency for 2008 or, less likely, he had resigned himself to the fact that he can’t beat Hillary and will finally treat the Senate as his job.

Update: Now I’ve come across this article in the Boston Herald saying that Kerry has fortified his “war chest” and is keeping his momentum for 2008. Momentum?

The Herald says:

Kerry huddled with his top fund-raisers Monday night in his Georgetown mansion, preparing a massive money push aimed at keeping the defeated presidential nominee’s ambitions alive.

“He wants to keep his team together,” said one member of Kerry’s national finance team. `”He’s looking ahead. He will be a strong voice in the party.”

Strategists say Kerry will use his new political action committee, Keeping America’s Promise, to promote his agenda, help party causes and keep his army of 2.7 million supporters together.

So, I suppose we can scratch the alternative that he has begun to take his Senate job seriously after two decades. Instead, he either is intent on running again, or he wants to keep his supporters together in order to have clout for what he wants as election time approaches, ala Jesse Jackson.

I suppose, either way you cut it, Kerry is still just on some gigantic, pathetic ego trip.
