Could This Happen in the United States?

January 31, 2005

A 25-year old waitress in Berlin faces possible cuts to her unemployment benefits because refused to take a job as a prostitute. According to the UK Telegraph:

Under Germany’s welfare reforms, any woman under 55 who has been out of work for more than a year can be forced to take an available job — including in the sex industry — or lose her unemployment benefit.

Given our culture’s lurch toward Postmodern moral relativism is it too far-fetched to imagine that this could happen here in a few years? (Hat Tip: Frank Turek)
