Chevy Chase Bashes Bush

December 15, 2004

Can’t these Hollywood people be original just once in their lives? Why is it they feel compelled to talk about politics, when so few of them have a clue about it? Drudge is reporting that Chevy Chase, hosting an awards ceremony at the Kennedy Center in New York for People for the American Way, trashed president Bush with the F word and other insults. Even People for the unAmerican Way were said to be stunned with Chase’s inappropriate remarks — and that’s saying something. Among other things, Chase said, “This guy in office is an uneducated, real lying schmuck … and we still couldn’t beat him with a bore like Kerry.”

All I can say is that I’m sorry I’ve supported this guy over the years by buying tickets to or videos of his movies. When they get this nasty — and plenty of them do — they don’t deserve our support. They need to take a good spanking from the American public.

I’m usually not too excited about boycotts, but one against Hollywood America-haters would please me. There is so little logical about this unwittingly guilt-ridden crowd who disdain wealth as they enjoy all of its fruits. But just saying they care about the poor — just identifying with political liberalism gives them an unqualified pass for unlimited hypocrisy in how uncharitably they conduct their personal lives. What other class or group of people do you know who consistently bite (and spit on) the hand that feeds them? Accountability would be sweet.
