President Bush Defends Patriot Act

October 8, 2004

He says that it gives us the same tools that we have against drug dealers and it allows our intelligence agencies to coordinate and talk to each other.

He points out that the before the Patriot Act, the agencies were handcuffed and not able to do their duty.

Kerry responds with weasel words that his objection is how the Patriot Act is being applied. That’s been his rationalization for flip-flopping on this one. It comes off weak, Senator.

Kerry says, “I believe in the Patriot Act. I’m not a flip-flopper.”‘

He says, we should never let the terrorists change our constitution and limit our rights. Well that has nothing to do with the way the Act has been applied Senator. It has to do with the Act itself, which you voted for, Senator.
