Fear a Stronger Motivator than Hate

From what we’re hearing anecdotally, it appears that voter turnout will be very, very heavy in most places. While the conventional wisdom would tell us that that is good news for Democrats, I have this comforting feeling that Republicans and other non-Republican Bush voters will be out in droves today because of their concern over the security of this country and their fear of the prospect of our national security being under the stewardship of one John Kerry. I know many, many Democrats are strongly motivated by hatred of George Bush, but I don’t think enough of them will be able to offset those who are even more motivated by national security concerns.
