Choice E-mail

February 15, 2005

Excuse the brief interruption of my comments on Krugman’s column so that I can share this e-mail that I just received in response to today’s column. If this e-mail doesn’t encapsulate the liberal elitist mindset I was just talking about in my Krugman on Dean rants, nothing does. Savor these lovely words from a manifestly compassionate, open-minded, tolerant, caring, sensitive liberal:

What you and your ilk don’t understand, is that the difference between religous democrats and religous RePubs is that Democrats don’t shove their religon down the throats of others. Christians want everyone to live like they do. They want everyone to think like the do. And if others reject the small minded beleifs of Christian RePub then the Christian RePub condemns them.

You are a small minded lot. You Christians have a reputation for ignorance because you live in a little world thinking little thoughts. You are impervious to reason and evidence which runs contrary to your small thoughts and your small worlds.

Your are ignorant people and the rest of us don’t want anything to do with you. So why don’t you leave us alone? That’s all you have to do. If you don’t like thinking people then don’t hang around us. If you don’t like women who have had abortions, then don’t invite them over for dinner and if you don’t like homosexuals then don’t go to their homes.

And I have sad news for you. You will never drag the rest of us back into 1955. 1955 is gone for ever and ever. So get over it and get a life.
