PC Reverberations Continue for Lawrence Summers' Impolitic Comments

Printer Friendly

Harvard President Lawrence Summers got himself in hot water last month, as you may recall, when he suggested at a closed-door meeting that "innate differences" between males and females could partially account for the fact that men tend to succeed more than women in science and math. This incurred the wrath of women academics and others and Lawrence has since had to apologize and try to beef up women participation in the sciences at his own little school there in Boston. It seems that Summers hasn't heard the end of this yet. Princeton President Shirley Tilghman has now weighed in, along with leaders of two other "elite" universities.
